How I Became a Web Developer & Designer
About me

Hi, my name is Erika Huber and I’ve been a web developer/designer for over 5 years. I fell into this industry when I needed a website for a hair salon that I own. At the time, I couldn’t afford to hire a professional designer and I’ve always had an eye for design and a passion for technology, so I decided to teach myself how. It quickly became something that I would do on the side for fun and for the learning experience.
A few years later, I was ready for a career change. I knew I wanted to be a developer, but I wasn’t sure what type, so I took an online class at Promineo tech for front-end software development and learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and React.
I really enjoyed software development, but realized that I wouldn’t be able to utilize my creative side as much, so after much deliberation, I decided that web design & development was what I wanted to do. I now work as a freelancer, work as an employee part-time, and started 2 separate web design agencies – LolaBella Studio, for clients in the beauty professional field, and Dynamic Storm, for all other service based businesses.

My Personal Web Development Journey
Follow along my journey that's lead me to a career in web development and SEO
Built my first website on Wordpress
June 2016My first website was for a hair salon that I own. I learned using Elementor. This is also when I started learning more about SEO for my website. I was able to rank #1 for multiple high value keywords for this website!
Attended Promineo Tech for Front-end Software Development
January 2021I attended a rigorous front-end development program where I learned more about HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and React. This was a fast paced program and I loved every minute of it! After graduating, I was offered a position as a mentor for the program, but ended up going a different route.
Launched LolaBella Studio
April 2023With my long, 20 year background in the beauty industry, I wanted to create a way for beauty professionals to be able to get a professional website for a lesser cost. That's why I decided to sell what I call "affordable website" or website templates that I create and reuse to design websites for salons and stylists. It's a great way for them to recieve a professionally designed and developed website without having to try to learn how to do it themselves.
Started at Intrycks as a Web Designer/SEO Specialist
July 2023I wanted to experience what it was like to design with a team and learn more about SEO, so I decided to accept a position at Intrycks, working remotely part-time.
